Good Breeze from a Fundamentalist Neighbor :: Desiring God

Good thoughts…

I would like to encourage all fundamentalists and former fundamentalists to feel a good breeze from the fevered landscape of controversy. It’s an article by Kevin Bauder (PDF), the president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, across town from us here in Minneapolis.

If you are a younger fundamentalist and hope to stay one and be a good one, read this.

Book Review: Kindle 2 for Dummies by Greg Holden

I did not anticipate this book to be a heavy read and I was correct. However, if you are a Kindle 2 (or even a first generation Kindle) owner, this book might be a good one to add to your collection. The price on Amazon was decent ($4.99 I think) and I found some new information that I was not aware of.

Book review: The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry

Another well written historical novel by Steve Berry surrounding returning characters, Cotton Malone, Henrik Thorvaldsen, and Stephanie (Cotton’s former boss). In this story, Malone is reunited with his ex-wife on an adventure from country to country in search of the lost Library of Alexandria and the tomes located within that will unlock both the mysteries of the world as well as provoke political unrest in the Middle East.

Review: KindleFeeder

I have yet to write a review on the Kindle 2 from Amazon which I picked up over a month ago while vacation in Florida. My preview in a word – “Excellent!” I will save an extended review for later once I locate where I left my mind.

Two Kinds of Simple Church, Part 1 | TheResurgence

Jonathan Dodson writes about churches taking a “simple church” goal…

The first kind of simple church ignores complexity. This kind of church calls it as they see it. There is one way to do things. They call the outs. This type of “simple church” refuses to frame the gospel in our context, insisting upon using old forms for new times.

Vertical Forest : Blocking Facebook Ads

Helpful information if you want to remove the annoying and sometimes offensive Sponsor ads that show up on Facebook:

I just received a request from a friend on Facebook to join a group petitioning that the stupid x-rated ads it shows be removed. Nice as it would be if Facebook would do this, realistically, I highly doubt they ever will.

HowStuffWorks “How bad for you is high-fructose corn syrup?”

Good sensible article on HFCS…

Knowing that it tastes delicious, should we go ahead and assume high-fructose corn syrup is also incredibly bad for us? Many people think it is, pointing to the rise in obesity and diabetes that seems to have mirrored the rise in consumption of HFCS. Critics point out that it’s not a natural form of fructose and that the availability of cheap sweetener led to the supersizing of individual servings, such as 64-ounce sodas.
