MacWorld SF Keynote: Delighted? or Disappointed?

Phil Schiller’s keynote address at MacWorld San Francisco is over. Like many Mac users who were unable to attend the keynote address and conference, I followed the address on the web. Announcements regarding updated software like iLife ’09 and iWork ’09 were made. A new 17″ MacBook Pro was unveiled (similar to the 15″ MacBook Pro and 13″ MacBook arrivals last October, 2008). DRM free iTunes Store songs were also announced as a “one last thing”.

Not announced were a refresh of the Mac Mini and iMac. There were also no changes to the Apple TV and no announcements regarding the iPhone.

I thought it was a good keynote. The upgrades in iLife ’09 look very interesting. If you are in the market for a big notebook, you might be happy with the new 17″ MacBook Pro with its sealed 8 hour battery. I was surprised and mildly disappointed that new life was not breathed into the Mac mini – perhaps that is coming in the next few months.
