About a month ago, I was watching some coffee related videos on YouTube (coffee is one of my hobbies and passions) when I came across the following video, https://youtu.be/hei5ZWfpMZY, from Alternative Brew about the Waco Minipresso GR. While intrigued and watching the video, it dawned on me that my son and daughter-in-law, Zack and Heidi, had given me a portable espresso maker as a gift for Christmas several years ago that I had really never opened or explored. I tracked it down in the cabinet where we have our coffee bar and discovered it was this same device!
A little backstory to follow: our family likes to use our Nespresso machine to make home cappuccinos and lattes – yeah, I know it is not the same as a “true” espresso maker, but for us, it does what we want it to.
Now my curiosity was whether this mini espresso brewer could match the Nespresso. Long story short – we are using the Minipresso as well as the Nespresso to make cappuccinos and lattes – the advantage with the Minipresso is we can use our own coffee beans and not pay the $0.50 to $1.00 per Nespresso capsule.
