We ordered a new Mac Mini for my wife to use for her business. She has been using a Dell up till this time and with the new offerings from Apple, we decided now was the time to make the switch. It will be interesting to gauge her tranistion to the new platform, but I think she will enjoy it in the long run.

Verizon EVDO and Cradlepoint PHS300 – Perfect Match for Travelers
Our Verizon U720 EVDO 3G modem and CradlePoint PHS300 Hotspot router performed flawless on our month long vacation to Florida. We stayed in orange grove country with limited high speed Internet. My wife’s parents have DSL in their home, but where we were staying, there was no connection period. I plugged the EVDO modem into the CradlePoint router and we were able to access all things Internet during our entire stay.
The Roach Motel – Days Inn, Dalton, GA
We went about 13 hours yesterday from Sebring, FL to Dalton, GA. I had hoped to make it further, but I was too tired and fighting a debilitating headache all day long. We picked up supper at a Chick-Fil-A south of Atlanta. What a great place as far as atmosphere. Friendly staff – “Ya’all need anything else?”
Repost from The Simple Dollar: Using a Gratitude Journal as a Personal Motivator to Save Money and Enjoy Life
A few weeks ago, a nice reader named Nicole introduced me to the concept of a gratitude journal:

Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker “schooled” me on things that I had never considered or thought out.
The best lessons of 2008

To use the proverbial expression, “…drinking from a firehose…” it is difficult to cull my list to just a couple of items. However, the exercise of summarizing the year to just a few bullet points helps me focus on the essence of what I learned from the past year that I can carry with me to the coming one. → Read the rest

Each year Christmas night finds members of my family feeling some melancholy. After weeks of anticipation, the Christmas celebrations have flashed by us and are suddenly gone. And we’re left standing, watching the Christmas taillights and music fade into the night.

Milestones – The coming of age in the life of a man
Well here it is. The day my oldest son reaches official adulthood. Oh, we have sort of been there before – like when he reached the age of 18 or when my second son reached the 18 year mile marker. But this is different. Zack is now recognized by his community and government as a full fledged adult on this day at approximately 12:15 p.m. → Read the rest
