Repost: What’s Pinging My iPad Battery? by Katie Floyd

Great discovery by Katie Floyd, one half of the Mac Power Users Podcast on the mysterious battery drain of new iPads:

After additional investigation I discovered the iPad was consuming power normally when active, but was draining more power than expected when in sleep or standby mode. What was the cause? In my case, I’ve narrowed it down to Ping, Apple’s nearly forgotten “social network for music.”  Like all good Apple geeks I checked out Ping when it was first introduced and setup an account, but I haven’t touched it since.

Review of the Jawbone JAMBOX Bluetooth Speaker

I recently ordered the Jawbone JAMBOX from Amazon after hearing a number of Podcasters that I listen to frequently rave about its sound quality and simplicity. Jawbone, well-known maker of a number of wireless bluetooth headsets, describes it JAMBOX product as:

Fast forward to 2009.

Apple’s In Ear Earphones Makes the Grade

While on vacation in Florida, I used the Amazon mobile app for iPhone to order a pair of the new Apple In Ear Headphones. The cunundrum I had was that while IEH are usually the best for isolating sound I had yet to find a pair that I could comfortably wear. I used to have a pair of Shure’s that I ended up selling on eBay because they would make my ears sore after wearing them for awhile.
