The Early Bird Catches the Worm

I think I am finally started to get it. Since August, I have been waking up almost automatically at either 4:00 a.m., 4:30 a.m., or 5:00 a.m. Even days when I have the rare luxury of sleeping in, 6:00 a.m. seems to be the latest I can sleep to and even then, I likely wake up at 4:30 a.m. and keep waking up every half hour. Getting an effective 7 hours of sleep now means going to bed at 9:00 or 9:30 every night. 6 hours seems to be the norm for me now.

Having been a former “night person”, now becoming an early riser is eitherĀ  preparation for getting old or an effective tool to get some quality quiet time, reading time, and time for checking news on my RSS feeds. My brain is much clearer and sharper in the morning than in the evening. It is the only time I seem to effectively read.

Here’s to the early morning!
